JANMASTMI CUM MATA SARASWATI POOJA CUM HIGH ACHIEVERS NITE
11TH AUGUST 2012
 
Panditjee Dinesh commenced prayers at 8PM for both Janmastmi and Mata Saraswati. A crowd of about 250 members and their families attended the function. Thereafter the following candidates were appreciated for being high achievers in their respective exams held in 2011. The Lalitaben Harsukhlal Kamdar Challenge Trophy for Best Academic performances in SPM/GCE O Level was awarded to Rahul Aswin Kumar Panchamia who received all 10'As (5A+,4A,1A-) in his SPM for year 2011. Bipinbhai Kamdar and his family gave away the Challenge Trophy to him. The receipient also received a replica Trophy apart from Cash Award of RM 1001 (RM750 from Lalitaben Harsukhlal Kamdar & RM 251 from GAWPS). As usual aarti was sung followed by distribution of prasaad. A healthy supper of excellent food items and Fresh Fruit Juices were served to all.  
   
 
 
   
   
RAKSHA BANDHAN CUM DURIAN PARTY
02ND AUGUST 2012
 
The recently concluded Raksha Bandhan celebrations cum Durian Party on 2nd August 2012 saw an encouraging turnout of about 300 members and their families at our Samaj premises. A sumptuous dinner was served to all present, The colouring competition saw participation of our children aged 3-12 years. Winners received prizes while all participants were presented with gifts. Thereafter, Panditjee Dinesh conducted prayers and presented an enlightening talk on the significance of Raksha Bandhan. A mimicry competition of brother/sister saw a fairly good number os participants. the crowd was amused and enjoyed the various presentations. Winners of various categories were rewarded with gifts. This was followed by the bidding for the SPM/GCE O Level Challenge Trophy which saw an active participation by members. Securing the highest bid at RM 16001, the Trophy will henceforthe (for current and next 2 years) be named LALITABEN HARSUKHLAL KAMDAR SPM/GCE O LEVEL Challenge Trophy. The sponsor will also present the respective Trophy recipient, a cash award of RM750 every year. We thank Lalitaben H Kamdar for the most generous sponsorship. Members were then feted to a Durian Party. We had ordered the best grades D24 Durians apart from mangoesteens and Rambutans for all our members present who truly appreciated the entire event. PARYUSHAN
25TH AUGUST - 1ST SEPT 2011
 
This year the Paryushan Festival was a grand success considering the number of participants attending the daily programme for the events that took place during the 8 auspicious days. We had invited Mr Sanjay Shah from India along with his band of musicians for this festival. His remarkable ability to deliver discourse along with his presentations of melodious stavans left everyone truly satisfied and yearning for more. We also witnessed young children participating in simple meaningful dramas and youth enjoying Ras Garba during this auspicious festival of Paryushan. Mahavir Jayanthi was celebrated with much pomp and splendor. In line with our Jain Philosophy that every life is truly precious, we managed to convince three restaurants owners (in front of our Jain Mandir) to close their business on Samvatsari Day and another one to served only vegetarian food. We received an overwhelming support from members of our community towards the above noble cause. We have also received much appreciation and apploud from several Jain Organisations in UK, Singapore & India for our efforts towards this cause.  
   
 
 
   
   
JANMASTMI
23RD AUGUST 2011
 
Janmastmi programme this year was attended by about 350 members at the Kalamandapam Hall Brickfields. A sumptuous dinner was served from 6.30-7.30pm. Panditji commenced prayers at 8.15pm. Thereafter our invited singers from India Mr Sanjay Shah along with his team of musicians entertained the crowd with melodious bhajans. A special presentation by our young children of the Magic Touch Class kept the crowd spell bound and trilled. There was a load applause for their splendid performance. Members then took part in Ras Garba, Dandiya and Aarti. Prasad was served to all present. .  
   
 
 
   
   
GURU PURNIMA PROGRAMME BY LOOK N LEARN CLASSES
17TH JULY 2011
 
Our Look N Learn religious classes held a special programme on Sunday 17th July 2011 at our Samaj in conjunction with Guru Purnima. The students took part in various sketches, dramas etc depicting moral and religious values. Dinner was served to all parents and students after the programme.  
   
 
 
   
   
GAMES CARNIVAL HELD IN MALACCA
11TH - 13TH MARCH 2011
 
The 6th Bi-annual Games Carnival held in Malacca from 11-13th March 2011 was a grand success. Almost 1000 Gujarati delegates from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and hosts Malacca gathered for a memorable event of sports and social and cultural gathering. GAWPS was represented by 300 delegates compromising of our players and supporters. Host Malacca had arranged excellent venues for the sporting events and the Gala Dinner, a wide assortment of food items for breakfasts, lunches and dinners and a range of facilities for the convenience of all who attended the said Carnival. Kudos to Malacca for according such excellent services and for being truly a warm and hospitable host. GAWPS again emerged as the Champions clinching the gold medals and trophies for NETBALL, TABLE TENNIS, CARROM & CHESS. We obtained the silver medals for Main Soccer and Badminton alongwith bronze medal for Veteran Soccer. Hence once again GAWPS took the OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY awarded to the contigent which wins the most number of games in the tournement. We also emerged as Champions for the FOOTSAL TOURNAMENT which involves our kids ages 12 years and below. It was indeed a pleasure watching them beat their opponents with confortable leads. Being winners for 3 consecutive Carnival Games in Netball, GAWPS will now retain the Netball Trophy. Congratulations to all our players who have emerged victorious in the Games. Our sincere appreciation goes to all the players of our Contigent who have trained so hard for the past few months to put in their best for the success of GAWPS. We also wish to thank all the Sponsors and donors whose cash contributions enabled us to defray a sizeable amount of the costs involved. Our sincere appreciation also goes to all Games Coordinatiors, Coaches, Games Officials, Volunteers who assisted us in coordinating and despatching the largest number of delegates ever for the Games Carnival, our performers for the Gala Nite and all supporters who have assisted us in one way or another to ensure a successful, meaningful and memorable trip for the Carnival Games in Malacca. PEP RALLY
19TH FEBRUARY 2011
 
There was an excellent turnout of about 350 members for the pep rally programme on 19th Feb 2011 that was graced by YB the Minister of Federal Territories and urban wellbeing Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin. The Minister, accompanied by his wife were given a rousing welcome. He was introduced to members present. In his speech, he remarked that he was overwhelmed with such good response from our well knit community. Our president thanked him for gracing the function and raised our concern for couple of issues such as security etc which the Minister assured needful action will continue to be undertaken by respective authorities. A charity drive for Leukemia patient Puvan Subramaniam, aged 6 Years initiated by disabled and wheel chair bound Fatimah Palaney who collected RM 10001 was given a boost by a smililar amount of donation of RM 10001 by GAWPS. Moved by the plight of the patient who needed RM 150000 to undergo a bone marrow transplant, our members alongwith YB the FT Minister came forward and willinghly donated an amount of about RM61000 towards the above noble couse. The family of Puvan conveyed their sincere appreciation for this drive which will now enable them proceed with the urgent surgery. The pep rally programme saw all players of each team marching into the hall and coordinators presenting their confident views for the upcoming carnival games in Malacca. The following agreed to sponsor the said amounts for various teams: KANTIBHAI SETH & FLY RM 1501 FOR FUTSAL, BHASHKAR CHITALIA RM 751 FOR CHESS, MANSUKHBHAI PATEL N FLY RM 1001 FOR CARROM, FAMILY OF SN AVALANI RM 2001 FOR NETBALL. PRADIP PATEL RM 1001 FOR BADMINTON, DATUK BHUPATRAI N SHAMMI SHAH RM 2001 FOR MAIN FOOTBALL, SAILESH N RAJESH KAMANI RM 1001 FOR TABLE TENNIS AND SAILESH BAVISI RM 1501 FOR VETERAN FOOTBALL. We wish to convery our sincere appreciation to the FT Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin for gracing our function, all donors for the charity drive, all sponsors for the mentioned games and all players and suppoters who attended our above function. 02ND SEPT 2010
 
The function was attended by about 250 devotees. Panditji Dinesh Maraj perform prayers for both the above dieties. Students and their families conducted masaraswati prayer to seek blessings from the goddess of learning. Prasad and supper was serves to all present.  
   
 
 
   
   
RAKSHA BANDHAN
24TH AUG 2010
 
This was a beautiful show & devotion, colour , lights & sound. Approximately 500 members & their families attended the function held at Kalamandappam Hall. The function was graced by Mr Reddy The Deputy High Commission of India to Malaysia. Presidents of Lakshmi Narayanan Temple, Sindhi Association, along with Senior Management of ISCON, Geetha Ashram & Other VIPs were invited. Our Youth put up an enchanting & colourful religious play depicting links of Lord Krishna and Draupadi. A cast of almost 100 participants dressed in colourful costumes showcased their performance for the above play which received a standing ovatian for the crowd. The Kamdar Family presented each participants with cash gift. Thereafter the usual Rakhi tying ceremony was held. The function ended at 10.30 P.M

A busload of our students from the Gujarati School visited the Tenmuku Pottery Factory. They were accompanied by their teacher lead by Harshaben Fifadera. Lunch was served to all present.

The Annual Gujarati School Exam were held at Tamil School Bangsar Utama. A Total of about 35 student sat for the exam conducted at various levels.  
   
 
 
   
   
DISCOURSE OF SADGURU SHRI SWATANTRADEOJI MAHARAJ
27th APRIL 2010
 
A total of about 100 members attended the above function in our Samaj. Dinner was served from 6.00 - 7.30 P.M. Thereafter all present attended a talk on Vihangam Yoga by Sadguru.    
 
   
   
MARAN TRIP
11th APRIL 2010
 
There was an excellent reponse from all from the above trip. A total of 170 members participated in this meaningful mini jatra to Maran. After registration and breakfast in the Samaj, a total of 4 buses loads and 1 van of devotees departed from Samaj at 7.15 A.M. 10 of our members had undertaken the main prayers of the day conducted by the temple priests. Lunch was served to all present. Thereafter participants were driven to Kuala Gandah National Elephant Conservation Centre. Tea and snacks were served to all. Everyone reached safely back to Samaj at 7.00 P.M. Mr Yagnesh Patel was the Organising Chairman for the above trip.    
 
   
   
JAIN AYAMBIL FESTIVAL
21ST - 29TH MARCH 2010
 
There was good response from members for this years Ayambil Festival. A total of 26 members sucessfully completed the 9 days Ayambil Fast. Parnas were held on 30th March 2010.    
 
   
   
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
21ST MARCH 2010
 
The 33rd AGM of GAWPS was held on Sunday 21st March 2010 at 10.15 A.M. The President gave his keynote address highlighting various acheivement and issues in 2009. There were no elections this year as the MC line up was for a 2 year period of 2009 & 2010. The meeting ended at 12.30 P.M and lunch were served to all present.    
 
   
   
CHAITRA MAINA NAVARATRI
20TH MARCH 2010
 
Chaitra Maina Navaratri was held at the Samaj Premises. Function begin at 8.30 P.M. There was a good turn out of members for the above event. After prayer by the panditji, ras garba and dandiya, aarti followed. Supper was served to all present. Function ended at about 10.30 P.M  
   
 
 
   
   
DHANTERES PRAYERS
15th OCTOBER 2009
 
There was a turnout of about 200 members and their families for Dhanteres held at our Samaj. Dinner was served from 6.30 - 8.00p.m. The event began with Panditji conducting the Saraswathy & Dhanteres Prayers. All members and their families participated in the above meaningful prayers before conducting Aarti. Therefater acedemic high achievers for UPSR (Std 6), PMR (Form 3) and SPM/GCE O'Level (Form 5) were recognised as well as duly honoured and rewarded. The winner for this year Champaben Shantilal Avalani Challanged Throphy was Niraj Babubhai Patel. The MC also honourned Darshan Rasmikant Shah, Khoobi, Dipak Kothari and Khushee Dipak Kothari for having sucessfully completed Recited of pratikraman (Jain Prayers) during 2009. The programme ended at 11pm with cash given for children below 12 years.  
   
 
 
   
   
JAIN PARYUSHAN
17th - 24th AUGUST 2009
 
This year we invited from India Mr Bipinbhai Dharar, a learned and knowledgeble avatar along with Mr Vijaybhai Doshi, a professional stavans singer who came with his team of 2 musicians. There was an excellent turnout of member for all the 8 days of the auspicious Jain Festival as both the invited guests conducted the entire event in a lively, beneficial and inspiring manner  
   
 
 
   
   
GAWPS OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONEY OF SAMAJ BUILDING IN BANGSAR
15th AUGUST 2009
 
The SAMAJ Building was officially declared open by our President Datuk Bhupatrai Shah. The Kamdar Family took the privilegde of being the main sponsor while Mrs Indiraben D.Doshi on behalf of P Lal Doshi sponsored the Gala Dinner for our Opening Ceremony. As estimated 750 members and their families attended the opening ceremony. A display of Lion dance by our Youth was followed by Ganesh prayers wherein the Family of SN Avalani were given the honour to conduct the Aarti. Thereafter the President officiated the opening ceremony by opening the plaque followed by the Kamdar Family conducting the opening ceremony of the buiding and P LAL Family conducting the opening ceremony of the First Floor. The crowd then settled down in the main hall where various major donors and their families unveiled their respectives plaques on the Donor Lists Plaque Board. Dinner was served 6.30-8.30pm, Guests were treated to a wide variety of mouth watering dishes. From 8.30-11.30pm guests were entertained by lively presentations from various wings of the MC. Past Presidents of GAWPS were honoured. The President thanked everyone for their assistance rendered inmaking the event a grand success. The programme ended with Janmastmi Aarti and Supper.

RAAS GARBA ENTRY FOR MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS 2009

With the support and ethusiasm of all members, GAWPS successfully completed the feat for a non-stop 12hrs Raas Garba Marathon from 10am-10pm for an entry in the Malaysia Book of Records. Members were well dressed and came in full force with their families and friends. A Crowd of a about 500 people including several prominent VIPS along with media and press personnel attented the event in the SAMAJ. Vidhi Nitinbhai Shah was awarded the Grand Prize for being the most graceful performer.  
 
 
 
 
   
JAAP AND CHARITY LUNCH
8th AUGUST 2009
 
To commemorate the official opening of our Samaj, members and their families attended a JAAP (Repeated recital of Mantras) Session in the Samaj from 8.30 - 10.00am. Therefater from 10.30am - 1.00pm, GAWPS invited children and elderly from 5 different charity homes. They were entertained by Artiste Mr Hitesh Mehta from India, apart from participating in games etc arranged by our members. Thereafter they were served lunch

The function was held at Selangor Club from 6-11pm. Members were entertained by Special Presentations & served Sumptous Dinner. GAWPS 2009 - AGM
12th APRIL 2009
 
The 32nd AGM Annual General Meeting of GAWPS was held on Saturday 12th April 2009 at 9.30am. There was a good turnout of members. A new management comittee was chosen (Pls see under general info under office bearers for the new line up). A new Trustee, Mr Bipin B Kamdar was appointed to replace the Late Mr Harsukhlal M Kamdar. The meeting ended at 12.45pm and lunch was served to all present  
   
THE JAIN AYAMBIL FESTIVAL
1ST - 9TH APRIL 2009
 
There was excellent response from all members both Youth & Old for this year Ayambil Festival. A total of 24 ladies sucessfully completed the daily Ayambil for a continoues period of 9 Days.  
   
 
 
   
   
THE MAHAVIR JAYANTHI CELEBRATION & VARSHITAP PARNA
26th April 2009
 
The said event was celebrated with much enthusiasm at the Lakshmi Narayanan Temple & Members of their families Mr Geethendra P Malani & his Wife Mrs Premila G Malani celebration completion of their one year Ekashana Varsitap. GUJARATI GAMES CARNIVAL 2009

GAWPS emerged the champions of the Gujarati Games Carnival by winning 5 of the 7 games competed. GAWPS won the gold medal for the Senior/Junior Football, Netball, Badminton, Carrom and Table Tennis. Where else the GAWPS's Chess team won silver and the Main Fotball team won bronze.

THE PEP RALLY WAS HELD ON 31ST JAN 2009. A CROWD OF ALMOST ABOUT 250 ATTENDED THE RALLY. DINNER WAS SERVED PRIOR TO THE EVENT.

MR PRABODH SETH CONDUCTED AN INSPIRING MOTIVATIONAL TALK FOR ALL THE PLAYERS.
THE PROGRAMME SAW ALL THE TEAMS PARADING INTO THE HALL WITH BRIEF SPEECHES FROM THE COORDINATORS.
THE JUNIORS LET BY THEIR MENTOR BINA DAMANI CONDUCTED THE WHOLE EVENT IN A VERY SYSTEMATIC N THRILLING MANNER.
THE CHIEF COORDINATOR OF THE GAMES SHAMMI SHAH INTRODUCED ALL THE PLAYERS OF THE VARIOUS TEAMS.
THE PLAYERD PLEDGED TO PERFORM THEIR BEST WHILST THE SUPPORTERS COMMITTED TO ORGANISE THIS EVENT TO BE THE BEST EVER.

THE PRESIDENT THANKED EVERYONE AND REMINDED THEM TO GIVE THEIR FULLEST COOPERATION FOR THE GAMES CARNIVAL TO BE HELD FROM 13-15 MARCH 2009.
