As
the younger generation of the Gujarati community grow, there
was a need to get the youths organised and make them participate
in the associations activity in a more meaningful way. Realising
this the Association felt that there was a need to form youth
wing within the Association to undertake and pursue more challenging
activities for the upcoming and future generation of the Gujarati
community. The Youth Wing was then formally formed in March
1997 where Mr. Nilesh Malani was given the task to lead the
organisation. The main aim of the Youth Wing was to unite
all Gujarati youths within GAWPS. It was also to lend a helping
hand to GAWPS to undertake more resourceful activities such
as social & cultural events.
Currently
the Youth Wing has got approximately 80 members. The Youth
Wing is open to youth who are above the age of 15 years old up to the age of 35 years old.
The Youth Wing had on 10-09-2005 held their annual general meeting. A few new faces were elected as the committee members of the Youth Wing for year 2005/2006.
